Our Core Values

These are our foundational values by which Westview Christian Church lives and is governed:
Commitment to the Authority of the Scriptures
We believe the Bible is uniquely inspired of God, and is authoritative for our daily living.
We encourage daily Bible reading, study and memorization.
Fellowship
As a body, we believe we are called to share and care for one another. That calls for togetherness. We need to be together to give and draw encouragement and strength from one another. Hebrews 10:25 reminds us that we must not treat this as optional. We cannot accomplish what Christ has commissioned the church to do separated and independent of each other. We are of many and varied parts, with various gifts and abilities, yet one body (1 Corinthians 12:2).
Worship
Worship, biblically, is more than an occasion; it is an attitude of life (Romans 12:1-2). Our coming together: each Sunday as the church assembled is a pause for corporate worship. From New Testament precedent (Acts 2:42), we recognize four important elements in our gathering together, teaching the Scriptures, fellowship, observing the Lord's Supper, and prayer. The focus of worship is the person and atoning sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our fellowship with Him.
Prayer
We believe in the power of God working in response to prayer. Just as the early believers prayed often and instinctively, so should we, both individually and corporately. Prayer is not merely a means of getting from God, but primarily a means of aligning our wills to His will. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Evangelism
We believe that evangelism is the first task of the Church, and that it is the responsibility of every Christian to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others (Matthew 28:18-20). 1 Peter 3:15 says, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have."
A Priesthood of All Believers
We believe that every Christian, regardless of vocation, is called to "full-time" Christian service. In that sense, every Christian is a minister encouraging every other member to discover a place for serving as he or she has been gifted by God (1 Peter 2:4-5; Ephesians 4:11-12).
A Godly Lifestyle
We believe from Christ's own example, that we should accept people where they are, but that God also expects the development of spiritual growth in every believer. While legalism will not in itself produce righteousness, accepting Christ's righteousness imputed to us in His forgiveness will produce righteous standards and conduct.
